SETTING

In DecKarnage you are a group of misfits characters of a fantasy and fairy-tale world populated by the most absurd creatures ever seen, in which you’ll have to make ends meet going to raid through what remains of the clashes between the real heroes – the cool ones, not like you – and the monsters… But it is a risky job, and it does not always end as one would hope!

THE GAME

Each game is structured in 4 PHASES:

• Generation of the character;
• Raiding;
• Final boss (the “V.I.P.”);
• Resale of loot and upgrade of the character and equipment.

Other key points of the game:

• Creed System: We are in a fairy world! If you strongly believe in something, it could become real! Playing with lava? Go through walls? Be beautiful? BELIEVE STRONGLY and it will work! Maybe.
• Unlimited imagination: you are in the trashbin of the space that Jung called COLLECTIVE UNCONSCIOUS. What does that mean? THAT THERE ARE NO LIMITS to what you might find! Facing WereOrigami armed with anti riot lollipops and protected by an armor of 3310 mobiles? CAN DO IT!
• Death is but a door*! Have you bite more than you could chew and died? No problem: your Guardian Muse will slam your soul into the nearest corpse… and away to raid again!
• High accessibility version: included with every pledge, in PDF format. It is a version of the manual that will allow you to adapt the game to make it usable in the best possible way by deaf people, blind or color blind people, people with learning disorder, autistic etc. Because playing is a right of all people.

*yes, you can be a Ghostbuster too.

GAME MODES

You can play DecKarnage as a ONE SHOT or in a CAMPAIGN. In both cases a Master is needed, but he will also have the opportunity to generate adventures almost completely randomly thanks to the ChaOSR System & DECKREATIVE!

The ChaOSR system allows you to generate random encounters, reasonably badass monsters, bizarre objects with unpredictable use. With those light Old School vibes that make everything more spicy and sometimes deadly.

You can choose to consult the DecKreative deck whenever you feel the need to be inspired. The end result will be the fruit of your imagination, with a dose of chance given by fate!

Here some examples: the group asked you the fateful question “how are babies born…” ah no. Sorry. The group asked “what do we see around us”?

Relax, put on your best smile and draw a card from the deck. You have drawn card #43. See what could come out here, with that myriad of random symbols and designs:

“It’s a rainy morning. A thunderstorm on the horizon. In the air you hear the notes of your favorite song, while a cool wind caresses your face. It almost sounds like a dream. Or maybe it really is, because you’re standing in a plain that’s literally covered in cats with stralunata faces. They’re all over the place, even in the trees. Now that you notice, you have some of them attached to you, like belts.”

Again: you need to put a monster on the fly in front of the treasure room, but all you have in your head are gutty cobolds. Draw the card #8:

“Before you stands a huge tin Robojudge. In his hand holds the sacred Ladder of presentation of the Talent Show. Something seems to upset him, and you know you shouldn’t irritate him. His index finger is severed, but it doesn’t seem to affect his power. He speaks to you with a thundering voice, you immediately understand that his words could be a weapon capable of laying down even an old gray megasorcerer”.

Again: you want to create consequences, but you find the usual wounds boring. Draw card #27:

“Your weapon, once shining like a dish soaked in rinse aid, has just turned into a breaded crab claw. Can you resist the temptation to eat it?”

Draw a card and let it guide you through the narrative! You can use it to determine the weather, the surroundings, how a person talks. Absorb all the information you need to create improbable monsters, unspeakable stories, oracles that come true in earnest and legends inspired by drawings, colors or thirty different ideas you’ll find on the cards.
