Space Otter Publishing is thrilled to announce that the Kickstarter campaign for the third volume of Out of the Box—the anthology comic series that has captivated readers with its unique mix of compelling stories and stunning artwork—will launch on
Tuesday, February 25th at 5:00 PM CET
(11:00 AM EST | 8:00 AM PST | 4:00 PM GMT | 2:00 AM AEDT).
Mike Carey once described the series as follows:
“What you won’t find here is ‘the same old stuff.’ Not a single fossil. Just a collection of bold, cheeky, and incredibly fresh stories, with ink barely dry.”
With Out of the Box Volume 3, readers will once again embark on an unforgettable journey through five distinct genres and artistic styles. This time, however, the stories begin to interconnect in unexpected and exciting ways, creating a shared narrative universe.
Rewards and New Additions
The Volume 3 campaign is designed to appeal to both long-time fans and newcomers, offering physical and digital editions in both English and Italian.
Convenient bundles for retailers and distributors worldwide will also be available.
Exciting new rewards include:
- A set of custom stickers and a personalized pin;
- A deck of holographic playing cards, usable for Out of the Box’s original card game (originally released for free during past campaigns and available again this time).
- The fan-favorite reward is also returning: the chance to have your face drawn into the comic as one of the characters!
This year, it will be accompanied by an exclusive new opportunity: the chance to purchase the original pages from Volumes 2 and 3 of The Turquoise Wolf and the Tawny Doe, drawn using traditional techniques by the talented Marta Zaccarini.
Stretch goal and collaborations
The campaign’s stretch goals will include upgrades and additions to the book, following the tradition of previous volumes.
Additionally, Space Otter Publishing is proud to announce that Volume 3 will feature contributions from internationally acclaimed comic creators, including:

Stories in Volume 3
This volume will feature a new chapter for each of the five original, gripping stories, which are now beginning to intertwine in surprising and fascinating ways:
- Ghost Dance (Parisi, Di Virgilio): In a desolate western world teeming with vampires, werewolves, and cursed creatures, an enchanted gunslinger, a shapeshifting shaman, and other desperate outlaws form an uneasy alliance to survive a common enemy.
- The Copper Roll (Freschi, Colangelo): In the darkness of deep space, a down-on-his-luck treasure hunter embarks on a perilous mission to uncover an ancient secret guarded for centuries by a magical order.
- The Old Man and the Treasure of Treasures (Green, Borelli): In a story filled with irony and nostalgia, an elderly man travels across the stars with an unlikely crew, searching for the “treasure of treasures,” a mysterious and perhaps unreachable goal.
- The Turquoise Wolf and the Tawny Doe (Masi, Filippi, Zaccarini): Across the vast Mongolian steppes, a young shaman must confront ancient spirits and forgotten traditions in a journey that will test her courage and her connection to the spiritual world.
- Project Hummingbird (Green, D’Urso): Dana mysteriously finds herself pregnant after an unexplainable encounter. Amidst ancient Mayan legends and cutting-edge scientific experiments, she embarks on a quest to uncover the truth behind this enigmatic event.
